Deputy President William Ruto has asked National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Amolo Odinga not to interfere with the October 26th election. According to Star, Ruto, who has been one of Raila’s fiercest critics, said that the former prime minister has an option of pulling out of the race than raising political temperatures in the nation as we head to the polls.

He was speaking on Sunday when he toured Nandi county. "I want to tell Mr Odinga that he has no capacity to stop Kenyans from exercising their democratic right of electing leaders of their choice," he said, as quoted by the local daily.

He also said that Raila has been on the forefront in the fight for democracy, adding that he should not kill it because of his quest to ascend to power in the forthcoming repeat polls.

"If anyone believes in democracy, he should be prepared to respect the will of Kenyans in a free and democratic election."

The remarks of the DP come at a time when leader of the opposition has maintained that they will not take part in the polls if the Independent Boundaries and Electoral Commission (IEBC) does not heed to their demands.
