President Uhuru Kenyatta and his rival in the 2017 presidential race Raila Odinga have drawn a 9-point agenda to be addressed by their ‘coalition government’.
According to a statement sent to newsrooms, here are the nine things the two top political leaders will be addressing.
1. Ethnic antagonism
2. Lack of a national ethos
3. Inclusivity
4. Devolution
5. Divisive elections
6. Security
7. Corruption
8. Shared prosperity
9. Resposibility
Uhuru and Raila said they will establish an office with a retinue of advisors and experts to ensure the nine are addressed. It is not clear, however, what the office will be like and how the nine will be implemented.
“His Excellency Uhuru Kenyatta and His Excellency Raila Odinga are the two leaders who symbolise the many ways in which the country has gone full circle in its divisions. They were witness to the unity and hope that was followed by discord and division,” the two said in their joint statement.
