Mandera Governor Ali Roba yesterday launched Sh40.5 million bursary funds for release to the beneficiaries.

The county boss noted that the fund will benefit a total of 5,689 students out of which 1,308 are in colleges and Universities, 4154 students are in secondary schools, 121 teacher trainees are at Mandera Teachers Training College and 106 students at Mandera Technical Training College.

The Governor noted that they will invest Sh200 million in another strategic partnership with Ministry of Education.

“Through a partnership with KMTC we are investing Sh.200 million to build a KMTC branch here in Mandera and in another strategic partnership with Ministry of Education, we will invest Sh200 million to build teachers training college. We have also partnered with Technical University of Kenya to build a branch in Mandera,” noted Roba.

He noted that students joining the four colleges will be fully sponsored by Mandera County Government.

Roba noted that his administration will leave no stone unturned over the next four years in ensuring they leave an indelible mark on the training of the youth.

He noted that the remaining challenge will be up to the school heads.“

The challenges will, therefore, remain for our head teachers and teachers to make sure we are up to the task with respect to meeting and meeting standards of best performing schools in other counties,” Noted Roba.
