National Super Alliance (NASA) Presidential candidate Raila Amolo Odinga has said that President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto have started a defectors fund to finance losers from his camp and other leaders including Independent candidates to join his camp.
Speaking to the press on Monday, Raila said that the opposition is aware of the plot to make the opposition appear weaker as we head to the fresh elections. He noted that any individual seeking financial gain can join the alliance to satisfy his personal interests.
“People seeking individual gain have correctly identified that Jubilee is the place to go. We will not waste time trying to stop them. In fact, we are aware that Jubilee has set up a Defectors’ Fund to finance the buying of leaders and losers and create the impression that there is an exodus from NASA,” he said as quoted by the Standard.
The opposition leader, who is taking his fourth stab at the nation’s top seat, also said that the fund being used during the Jubilee campaigns belong to the common mwananchi.
“Of course the money is being stolen from the public and it is the reason the economy has stagnated and nearly all workers are on strike,” he added.
