Details have emerged on what transpired during a birthday party at the leafy Oliveinn estate in Kiamunyi moments before rugby star Mike Okombe was stabbed to death by his lover.

According to sources who attended the party, about eight people were partying in the house that belong to Calvin Okoth.Okotha and Okombe were married to sisters.

Among those present was Okombe and his estranged lover Maryanne Mumbi.

The two had earlier seperated after an altercation but the party gave an opportunity for the lovers to rekindle their old flame.

The party was wild with booze flowing and it extended to the wee hours of the night.

During the partying, with guys now intoxicated, one of the reveller gave Mumbi a 'very suggestive hug'.

This irked Okombe who lost his cool.

As he cornered Mumbi, she dashed to the kitchen and fetched a knife.

In a flash of seconds, she stabbed him. He went on the floor writhing in pain.

And that single stab claimed the star's life.
