The Wiper Democratic Movement Party's top leadership has cautioned aspirants seeking the party's ticket against causing chaos and violence during the primaries.
Speaking in Mombasa on Monday, the party's Secretary General Hassan Omar urged party aspirants to maintain peace, warning that anyone found culpable of engaging in chaos will be automatically disqualified from contesting on the party's ticket.
"Wiper will not impose any fine, any evidence of violence will lead to automatic disqualification and immediate prosecution of the said persons," the Mombasa Senator said.
"There is no cause for alarm and anyone who is planning to create tension or chaos will be dealt with by the law because this country has laws and they must be followed," he added.
Omar, who is also seeking to unseat governor Ali Hassan Joho on a Wiper Party ticket affirmed the party's preparedness to conduct peaceful primaries.
"I had a meeting with all security organs and they have committed to offering all security required in all polling stations. We are hoping to have free and fair transparent as we have witnessed in all other counties where Wiper has candidates," he noted.
