ODM party leader Raila Odinga has said Opposition alliance NASA will sack all state officers campaigning for President Uhuru Kenyatta ahead of the next general elections.
Speaking on Monday at the Bomas of Kenya, the former Prime Minister observed that it is unconstitutional for senior government officials to engage in politics.
"Uhuru must prepare to leave office with his political civil servants. We will not allow them to serve in NASA government," he noted.
"When State House says it is normal for State officers to campaign, then something is wrong," he added.
Most cabinet secretaries and principal Secretaries have openly championed for President Kenyatta's re-election bid.
On Sunday, government through State House spokesperson Manoah Esipisu has came in defence of officers campaigning for President Kenyatta, saying they are answerable to the head of state.
"They are accountable to the President who appointed them and whose vision of service they have to operationalise," Esipisu stated.
