The launch will take place at the UoN grounds at 1pm. According to a report published in The Standard, the Kenyans satellite, aptly called, First Kenya University Nano Satellite Precursor-Flight (1KUNS-PF), will be deployed into the orbit from Japan Space Agency in Tokyo.
This means the launch in Kenya will take place virtually through the internet video-linkage.
This is a major breakthrough for Kenya as far as engineering is concerned.
It will obviously put Kenya in the limelight and the University of Nairobi at the center stage of technology and innovation.
Professor Mwangi Mbuthia, Dean, School of Engineering at the University of Nairobi said, according to the same report that “It will make it easier for scientists to carry out weather forecasting, earth mapping, outer space observation, climate change and will assist in the development of the multimedia sector in the country.”
