The incumbent Garissa Township MP Aden Duale could slowly be losing grip in regional politics.
Owing to the large number of aspirants interested to unseat him, it could be interpreted that such hopefuls might have seen some void in Duale's present leadership.
A number of seasoned and entrant politicians are now traversing Township areas, selling their ideologies while propagating the idea that the incumbent has widely failed in serving the electorate that elevated him to eventually become House Majority leader.
It is clear that the incumbent will have to content with a tough battle if he is still some optimism of retaining the seat.
However, it also seems that Duale himself is fully aware of the big barriers that have been erected along his political path, since he has of late, been seen touring his constituency almost every weekend.
He has learnt that the electioneering period is the time to draw closer to the electorate to issue false promises that may or may not see the day.
As this is not enough, ground reports indicate that more aspirants are warming up for the seat and will just tender in their candidature upon the expiry of the IEBC's deadline for resigning from public service.
