In November 19, 2015, I travelled by road for close to 9 hours from Nuba mountains in Sudan to Yida refugee camp in South Sudan. That day I got the chance to walk around the expansive refugee camp.

Most refugees who live here in temporary houses and tents are victims of the war in South Kordofan, Blue Nile and Darfur states and also internally displaced persons in South Sudan following the civil war that broke out in 2013.

Most of these refugees get food aid from World Food Program, WFP and such organizations as United Nations, UNHCR and American pass.

Yida is their home now. Students attend schools in wooden structures with no desks and tree trunks as chairs.

Just like those in Kakuma and Daadab camps, these people can not go back home as the situation is not stable yet.

Refugees in the Kenyan camps are from Somalia, Sudan and S.Sudan.

Peace has not returned in these countries yet.

Amisom has issued Kenya Sh4.5 billion to help fight Al-Shabaab. They should let the refugees stay a little longer.
