Earlier this year, many Kenyans had expressed their fears that the independent electoral and boundary commission (IEBC) could not be trusted to deliver a free and fair election in 2017.
Many had called for electoral reforms, with some even joining the opposition during their weekly street demonstrations to have the IEBC commissioners ejected from office.
The cries of many Kenyans were not vain. After lengthy negotiations, the commissioners led by Isaac Hassan finally bowed down to pressure and agreed to leave after new commissioners take office.
Because the 2017 elections are fast approaching, the commissioners have decided to continue with preparations. As part of the electoral reforms, IEBC is drafting electoral ICT regulations and they've invited the public to bring suggestions and proposals before the document is taken to parliament.
This your chance to be part of the electoral reforms. The document is available on their website. The constitution requires public participation on matters of public interest.
