Side hustles are necessary for one to be guaranteed a better lifestyle. This is what motivated Boney a resident of Mombasa to start his fresh juice business as a way of earning extra money.

The hot Mombasa climate made him identify a gap of quenching people’s thirst in the market.

He started his business in 2016 owning nothing but a cooler box.

“At that time I could not afford to purchase a fridge hence I bought ‘madonge’ that I used to keep the juice cold,” said the young business man.

Mostly, he deals with passion and tamarind juice which is famously known as ‘ukwaju’.

On a typical day, he wakes up very early in the morning where he blends the ingredients and washes bottles to make this tasteful drinks before going to work.

One bottle of passion juice goes for Sh30 while that of tamarind sells at Sh20.

On a good day, he can even sell up to 50 bottles. He sells his product at a shop located near Kenya Ferry. Over the two year period, Boney has managed to save enough money to buy a fridge. His quality services have attracted more customers.

“My clients seem to never get enough of my fresh juice. The major challenges that I encounter is inadequate supplies especially now that sugar is somehow scarce,” he said.

With his side hustles making over Sh1,200 in terms of profit per day, Boney is looking forward to expand his business venture.
