Is Senate Minority Leader Moses Wetangula and Governor Rutto banking on a Plan B? It seems clear that they doubt Raila will win against President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto in the August 8 general election. [Photo/ The Standard]
Recent actions by two pentagon members of the National Super Alliance (NASA) coalition show that there is low confidence flag-bearer Raila Odinga will win the presidency in August. Fork Kenya leader Moses Wetangula, a key principal in NASA who is set to control a significant part of the government should the opposition win, has indicated that he may defend his Bungoma senatorial seat. Officials of his party had indicated that they do not plan to give the ticket for the seat for any other politician. Bomet Governor Isaac Rutto, who recently joined the united opposition as the fifth principal, has on several occasions indicated that he will be on the ballot in August to defend his seat as the county boss.Should ODM leader Raila Odinga and his running mate Kalonzo Musyoka win in August, Governor Rutto will have a much bigger position in the national government. He seems to think that is a huge gamble. Which is why he is using his Chama Cha Mashinani party to defend his seat against Sotik MP Joyce Laboso, who is sponsored by the Jubilee party. The former Council of Governors chairman has argued that he may send a member of his party to take up the premier cabinet secretary position in the NASA government, but many analysts say this is not likely to happen. They expect the governor to take up that role were NASA to win. Is Senate Minority Leader Moses Wetangula and Governor Rutto banking on a Plan B?
