Use of social media is part of enhancing freedom of expression and should not be controlled, Raila has said. The opposition chief opposed a suggestion by some Kenyans that social media users should be manned by the Francis Ole Kaparo led NIC. There are accusations levelled against Odinga for not warning his followers on social media against hate speech.
“Social media is a free media. Sometimes people use other people’s names and post stuff that may be inflammatory. I will not interfere with freedom of expression. Francis Ole Kaparo should not shut the internet as Ugandans did during elections,” Raila responded.
The opposition leader also blamed Jubilee for secluding some Kenyans. He said the government only has two individuals and their associates running the state. He pledged to give equal opportunities to all Kenyans.
“The problem in Kenya is ethnic exclusivity. Jubilee has two people with their friends running our country. I will be more inclusive and ensure that every Kenyan gets equal opportunity regardless of their tribe,” Odinga said.
