Mombasa Deputy Governor Dr William Kingi has flagged off the 14th Edition of Kenya Schools Sports For Learners with Special Needs at Makadara Grounds.
Accompanied by the Sports CeC Munywoki Kyalo, the team also participated in a commemoration walk through the streets of Mombasa with the participating teams and stakeholders.
Kingi said the County government of Mombasa was pleased to host the games which kicked off on Monday, April 9.
"We shall accord the organizers the necessary support in making the event a success," he said shortly after flagging off the sporting activity.
The DG also acknowledged the efforts of the Kenya Schools Sports Association for Learners with special needs for their efforts in promoting sports as a vital element of learning and an avenue for growing talents among children with special needs.
"This will go a long way in complementing our efforts in providing more avenues for the empowerment of our people with special needs. And may the best team win," concluded Kingi.
