The Nyandarua County Assembly on Wednesday debated the recent pact between President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
The motion tabled by Gatimu ward MCA Kieru Wambui was overwhelmingly supported by leaders who said it would create unity and development in the country.
They also agreed to support calls to have the amendments of the constitution to have the opposition leader have a sit in either the Senate or the National Assembly.
The amendments are set to be tabled in the house by the Chairman of constitution Implementation Committee in the National Assembly and Ndaragwa MP Jeremiah Kioni.
While moving the motion, Kieru said that Uhuru and Odinga had shown proper leadership for promoting national unity, peace and harmony in the country and initiating a move towards building bridges to a new Kenyan.
Kieru noted that with the two embracing each other, Kenya would now move forward as a nation.
"We have not seen much development since we held the elections and this has been due to the political differences. It is now time that we embrace peace and shun ethnicity. We should now forget the past and chat the way forward," he said.
While also supporting the motion, Githioro ward MCA Simon Sambigi noted that it was time Kenyans shunned politics and concentrate on development.
Speaker Ndegwa Wahome who moderated the debate hailed the house for passing the motion saying it was the first of its kind in the country.
