Devolution Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa on Friday launched the relief food distribution in race against time to save thousands of people facing starvation in Taita Taveta county as part of the national drought mitigation initiative.
Welcoming him, Governor Granton Samboja said Taita Taveta will be receiving more than 1,000 bags of assorted foodstuffs such as maize, rice, beans which will be distributed to persons affected by drought and floods from the national government through the ministry.
"The first truck has just arrived in my Wundanyi offices and plans to start distribution are underway," said Samboja.
Wamalwa was accompanied by the Principal Secretary for the State Department of Devolution Micah Pkopus Powon, and the department's Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) former Tana River Governor Dhadho Godhana.
