This comes after his point-man in the region, former TNA secretary general Onyango Oloo defected to the Raila Odinga led ODM party.

The President has named former Rarieda MP Raphael Tuju, who is currently the head of Jubilee’s presidential secretariat, Nominated Senator Joy Gwendo, Rachuonyo MP James Rege and lawyer Ambrose Weda as his new point-men in the Cord leader Raila Odinga's backyard.

The 2013 Kisumu governor seat hopeful on the ODM ticket, Atieno Atieno, is also part of the new team which has been mandated to get as many votes as possible for Jubilee in the forthcoming polls.

Atieno, who is also the Maendeleo Ya Wanawake, Kisumu county chairperson, lost in the ODM primaries to the incumbent, Governor Jack Ranguma.

Senator Gwendo and Weda will be in charge of Kisumu County while Rege and Tuju will take care of Homa Bay and Siaya counties respectively.

Gwendo said they have already hit the ground to solicit votes for the Jubilee Party leader Uhuru Kenyatta.

“Yes, we have already started work and I can assure you we will get more votes for President Uhuru like never before,” Gwendo said while speaking to People Daily.

Oloo, former secretary general of the defunct TNA party, defected to the Orange Party last week promising to help Raila clinch power in the August elections.
