President Uhuru Kenyatta has promised to take care of Kenyan farmers if given a second term in office. Speaking at Kasarani Stadium Auditorium during the launch of Jubilee manifesto, the President pledged to have a food-secure nation.
“If reelected, the Jubilee government will expand food and agricultural production, double the fertilizer subsidy initiative, reducing the cost to farmers to less than Sh1,500. It will expand the program to include all crops with a resultant increase in production and support the expansion and capacity of local fertilizer manufacture,” Uhuru said as quoted by the Star.
He defended Jubilee’s development record in the fast four years they have been in government. He said that his government has delivered most of its promises made to Kenyans during the 2013 campaigns. According to President Uhuru, Jubilee has convincingly delivered in education, security and health sector among others. He said that he deserves the a second term.
“As the past four years have shown, when I promise – I deliver. The Jubilee government has already delivered improved security, economic stability and jobs. We have expanded access to affordable healthcare and modernised public services. But we now need to redouble our efforts to build upon the foundations of success,” Uhuru said as reported by the local daily.
