Farmers, aspiring farmers, fishermen and residents of Mombasa will receive the needs they proposed through the Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Cooperatives in order to boost their ventures and livelihoods.
This was revealed during a meeting between officers from the department led by Chief Officer Rosina Wasoi and Sub County Administration led by Coordinator Idris Abdirahman, to discuss programmes by the department.
The needs by crop and livestock farmers together with fishermen such as seeds, insecticides, veterinary services, breeding stocks, training, more fishing boats and gears, market support among others were captured and are budgeted for in the department’s planned projects for the financial year 2018/2019 according to Wasoi.
During the meeting on Friday, the officers and the Sub County Administrators also discussed more ideas of how they can partner to ensure residents safety such as in the control of spread of livestock diseases in the region.
Through development priorities, a regular document which captures the community needs in various sectors and prepared by the Sub County Administration after barazas and dialogues with residents, County departments often plan and budget for programmes in line with the priorities of its citizens.
