Mombasa Senator aspirant Hamisi Mwaguya has vowed to protect the interests of the county with his top priority being the economy.
Mwaguya who is seeking the seat currently held by Senator Hassan Omar, said the decline of the county’s economy must be brought to an end.He cited the collapse of major industries in the region as one of the indicators of the county’s poor economy. This, noted Mwaguya, can be rescued through devolution.“The main role of the senator is to protect the interests of the county. The economic interests of Mombasa are my biggest priority,” said Mwaguya. He is seeking the seat as an independent aspirant in the upcoming August 8 polls.Mwaguya made the remarks Thursday in Likoni constituency when he was endorsed by Mijikenda elders. The elders from the five wards said they have confidence that Mwaguya will help Mombasa “recapture its lost glory as the economic hub of the Coast region”.“We are sending you there to fight for us Mombasa and Likoni residents,” said their leader, Suleiman Mwanzuka.
