Early March, Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho toured the Republic of Estonia, a country in Northern Europe which borders the Baltic Sea and Gulf of Finland, for a two-day official visit.
Flanked by his team of County Executives, they met Director General of the Estonian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mait Palts.
Led by County Executive in charge of Trade, Tourism and Investment Fawz Rashid, the county signed an MoU with Let's Do It World Foundation, to partner on a major environmental clean up in Mombasa.
The foundation has conducted comprehensive clean up exercises in over 130 countries across the globe over the past 10 years.
Joho also discussed tourism with Estonian officials, shared mutual security challenges and how to tackle them.
The visit also promoted Mombasa as the host of 79th SKAL World Congress 2018, a meeting that would sell Mombasa city to the world.
Later in the month, Joho left Mombasa for Berlin, Germany.
Though he did not publicly reveal details of his visit like he did when in Estonia, reports said Joho met Germany officials and attended world’s largest trade show - Internationale Tourismus-Börse (ITB) congress, and later held talks with SKAL International’s president Sussana Saari at the ITB in Berlin.
ITB is the world’s largest tourism and trade show. It attracts players from various global tourism destinations.
Joho reportedly flew to Dubai afterwards, for an investor discussion.
