NASA principals wave to supporters on the way to Donholm's Jacaranda Grounds in Nairobi, Sunday, September 17, 2017. [Photo|Raila Odinga]The National Super Alliance (Nasa) held a campaign rally at Donholm's Jacaranda Grounds in Nairobi, Sunday. The four principals made a declaration, with Raila Odinga, the October presidential election candidate, saying it would be known as "Nairobi Declaration."Below are Odinga's words about the declaration."Democracy is a system of government in which a country’s political leaders are chosen by the people in regular, free and fair elections. Kenyans spoke in a loud and emphatic voice on August 8th giving us victory; however the will of the majority was subverted by a few with malicious intent. As a coalition we have tried to engage the IEBC with a view to having our grave and valid concerns addressed but to no avail. In response all that we have seen is their unilateral decision to set an election date. Despite well documented and widespread anomalies in the last poll they have defiantly refused to make any amends and are proceeding as if it’s business as usual.Today we have made the Nairobi Declaration at Jacaranda Grounds stating that unless our irreducible minimum reform demands are met, we shall not have a repeat presidential election. We wish to once again thank all our supporters for staying the course with us as we continue with our quest for justice and endeavour to protect the democracy of our great nation."
