The National Police Service (NPS) on Wednesday offered transport services to people traveling from Lamu to Malindi in Kilifi county.
Using its chopper, the police service ferried the commuters to their destinations after the ongoing floods rendered the Lamu - Malindi road impassable.
The rains have flooded roads in Kilifi especially after river Sabaki broke its banks, making it impossible for normal businesses across wider parts of the County.
The move comes after the Kenya Defence Forces was involved in rescue mission of flood victims across the coastal county.
This even as the NPS Inspector General Joseph Boinnet received title deeds of pieces of public land which had been dubiously taken away from Karatina Police Station on Wednesday.
The parcels of land had been reserved for police housing as per Karatina development plan No: 31 of 13th February,1973.
"There are ten other parcels of land that EACC is in the process of recovering through Judicial process. All these parcels of land were corruptly hived off the total land meant for the station leaving it with no compound for conducting parades and other Police functions," a NPS communication said.
The IG expressed his appreciation to EACC for restituting the parcels of land to the rightful ownership so that the purpose for which they were designed can be actualized.
