President Uhuru Kenyatta and the former prime minister Raila Odinga met at the Muthaiga Golf Club on Sunday, days after their 'golden' handshake.
The two leaders were at the club to witness the closure of the Barclays Kenya Open 2018 golf tournament that kicked off on March 22.
Speaking during the tournament, Uhuru said he and Raila had agreed to unite Kenyans.
“We have agreed with my brother here that we are going to unite Kenyans. And sports is one way of doing so, “ said the President.
On his part, Odinga echoed Kenyatta's sentiments adding that unity would allow the country to progress.
The ODM party leader also noted that there was need to to promote golf in Kenyan schools so as to nature talent at young age.
“I have felt very thrilled by what I saw here I have seen talent played here. We need to promote golf in our schools so we can scout talent at very young age so that talent can be developed,” said the former Prime Minister.
Raila added that Kenya was bigger than any individual hence the need to work together to promote unity and harmony amongst the citizens.
“We want Kenyans to live together harmoniously and in unity. We want, Kenyans to walk together without discrimination or tribal animosity so that when we move out of political scene, there will be no problem we will leave Kenyans living together peaceful,” he added.
Also present during tournament Nairobi Governor, Mike Mbuvi Sonko, Cabinet secretaries Najib Balala and Eugene Wamalwa among others.
