The two leaders will be meeting during the launch of  Dongo Kundu road in Mombasa. Mombasa County Communications Director Richard Chacha has confirmed Joho’s attendance.

“The governor will be present at the opening of the Dongo Kundu road to be presided over by the President tomorrow (Thursday),” confirmed Chacha.

The governor is also expected to share a table with the head of state during  Friday’s Idd-Ul-Fitr celebrations.

The meeting comes weeks after Joho met Baringo Senator Gideon Moi as 2022 succession politics take center stage in different public events. The meeting of the two leaders was initiated following the reunion of President Uhuru and NASA leader Raila Amolo Odinga.

Speaking during the National prayer day, both Uhuru and Raila assured Kenyans that they are ready to work together and forgave each other.

“We have campaigned against one other, we have said nasty things about one another, we hurt one another and on my behalf ndugu I ask for your forgiveness and I tender my apology,” said President Kenyatta.

His sentiments were re-echoed by Raila Amolo Odinga.

Joho and his Kilifi Counterpart Amason Kingi were among the fiercest critics of the Jubilee regime.
