Efforts to save the opposition's NASA coalition after a truce meeting between its leader Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta seem to have hit a dead end.
This is after two of the four co-principals, Musalia Mudavadi (ANC) and Moses Wetangula (Ford Kenya) led a scathing attack against Raila, accusing him of betraying them and the entire Luhya community.
This is despite a NASA summit meeting between Odinga (ODM), Mudavadi, Wetangula and Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper) that saw Odinga explain to his colleagues details of his meeting with Kenyatta, who they have been opposing.
After the summit, the trio endorsed Odinga-Uhuru meeting saying it was for the sake of the country's unity.
However, things turned different on Saturday when Mudavadi and Wetangula toured several areas in Vihiga county, ANC's political support base.
The duo said they regretted supporting Odinga, who they had entrusted to help uplift lives of the Luhya community.
Wetangula said they had supported Odinga only for him to turn his back on them.
"Mudavadi has spent 10 years supporting Raila. I equally supported Raila in 2013 and 2017," said the Bungoma Senator.
He expressed disappointment that Odinga used and dumped them, with the two calling for unity of the Luhya community.
The two also demanded that it was time for Raila to support them.
“The majority cannot continue to be subordinate to the minority. We sacrificed for Raila. It is time he reciprocates," Wetangula said.
They made stopovers at Majengo, Mbale and Chavakali in Vihiga County.
