Limuru Member of Parliament Peter Mungai Mwathi was born in 1962 in Kamirithu Village, Limuru Division of Kiambu District.

Mwathi was a primary school student of Rironi primary school from 1971 – 1977.

He then joined Uasin Gishu Secondary School in Eldoret for his (KCE) from 1978 – 1981.

Mwathi was again admitted at Mangu High School in 1982 and sat for his  (KACE) in 1983.

After his secondary education, the legislator joined the University of Nairobi in 1985 – 1990 to study Bachelor of Architecture.

He later graduated with Masters Degree in Urban Management in 2005.

Mwathi was the MP for Limuru  from 2008 – 4th March 2013. 

He, however, failed to retain the seat in the 2013 elections. The Jubilee MP was, nevertheless, lucky in the August 8, 2017 general election as he clinched the Limuru Parliamentary seat after beating his main rival Eng Kiragu Chege.

In his job history, the MP has worked as Commissioner to the Parliamentary Service Commission, Architect of Ministry of roads and public works, Architect of T.S. Nandhara and Architect of GB Hanjari Archs.
