There are, however, some unknown things you need to know about him.

1. Aged 68

Born in January 24th, 1950 Maitha is undoubtedly the oldest MCA in Machakos County and among the oldest in the whole county. Despite his old age, he has never stopped to soar in leadership.

2. Former MP

Moffat Muia Maitha served as Kangundo MP between 2002-2007. In 2007, he defended his seat on a National Rainbow Coalition (NARC) ticket but lost to Johnstone Muthama, the former Machakos Senator.

Maitha didn't give up in politics. In 2013, he vied again for the seat and lost for the second time to the current member of parliament Stephen Mule.

In 2017, he vied for the MCA position on a Jubilee ticket and won after several hiccups.

3. Teacher by profession

A teacher by profession, Maitha gained his popularity when he served as a Knut secretary general in the then larger Machakos District in the 90’s.

4. Charged with defilement

Was once charged with defilement. In 2012, Moffat Maitha was charged in Kangundo law courts with defiling a 15-year-old girl in Matungulu sub-county of Machakos county. He was acquitted of the charges in December 2012.
