Barely months after unidentified Nairobi police officers took to the social media in their fight against crime in Nairobi's Eastlands, there has been a rumour that the cop named Hessy wa Kayole has been killed by the Kayole gangsters.
Earlier, photos were posted online to the effect that Hessy had been killed by the gangs in retaliation.
The blogs said to be run by gang members and their sympathisers have identified Corporal Japhet Mwiti as this said “Hessy”.
According to The Nairobian, Corporal Mwiti was killed by gang members in Kayole on March 19, 2017.
The Hessy crime fighter however told The Nairobian that the information disseminated to the media emanated from dubious people who are plotting to bring down their fight on crime.
He spoke through a Facebook inbox and said he is still alive and fighting crime to the end.
“I have never talked to the media. They’re writing things basing on the information given to them by criminals. Yesterday they said Hessy wa Kayole is dead, and that he is well known as Japheth Mwiti. Now, that’s an officer who died in March this year, he was shot dead by gangs in Kayole,” he said
The crime fighter cops going by the name's Hessy wa Dandora, Hessy wa Kayole, Hessy wa Huruma and Blackest Widow run the Facebook pages Dandora Crime Free, Dandora Love People and Kayole Crime Free that have 189,841 followers.
On these pages, identities of alleged gangsters are shared by the police and a warning issued to the suspects to either change or face death from the cops.
