There is, however, a but. This can only happen if people unite globally and fight the disease.

WHO pointed out that if the said actions will not be met then all this will not be possible. However, the organization says there are high hopes of stopping the disease from killing many because since 2003, it has been able to save 43 million lives. It pointed out that approximately 1.5 million people die from TB annually. It also revealed that the number can be reduced if more TB control programs are strengthened and new medicine and tools bought to help fight the disease.

This was said by the world health organization global TB program director, Mario Raviglione. He said that it has been hard to reduce the number of deaths in some countries affected by TB because the people are resistant to the medicines being used.

‘‘Some people are quite resistant to the drugs being used. This means we will have to change the drugs. This exercise need money,’’ he said.

He also mentioned that India is one of the most affected countries with TB cases and patients being resistant to the drugs.
