The eight lawmakers who are in custody for hate speech have been denied bail after the High Court dismissed their application.
The leaders who were arrested on Tuesday had moved to the High Court to seek their release on bail.
The eight are MPs Junet Mohamed (Suna East), Timothy Bosire (Kitutu Masaba), Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama, Moses Kuria (Gatundu South), Ferdinand Waititu (Kabete), Kimani Ngunjiri (Bahati), and women representatives Florence Mutua (Busia) and Aisha Jumwa (Kilifi).
The leaders stated that they had been held for several hours without food or water. They also stated that they had not been allowed to see their relatives and spouses.
The High Court, however, denied their application and Justice Joseph Onguto said he would explain on Thursday why he dismissed the application.
