High court orders scrutiny, a recount of votes in Mandera senatorial race. [Photo/standardmedia.co.ke]Votes scrutiny and recounting will be done in 11 polling stations in Mandera senatorial race.
This follows an order from the High court after a successful application by Aden Osman who unsuccessfully vied for the Senate seat on August 8.
Justice Francis Tuiyot on Friday said ICT officers from IEBC will assist in the scrutiny and recount of votes under the direction of deputy registrar.
Tuiyot said all parties will be represented in the exercise.
The deputy registrar is expected to file a report over the same by January 15, 2018.
Aden Osman garnered 62,769 votes against senator Mohamed Maalim Muhamud's 71,890 votes.
Osman claimed that the election process was marred by irregularities.
He wants the court to nullify Muhamud's victory and a fresh election conducted.
