The high court has suspended interviewing of nominees for Nakuru county chief officers until a case filed by nominated senator Victor Prengei is heard and determined.
The senator said the county government contravened the law on the protection of the rights of the minority.
He argued that the list of nominees does not meet the two thirds gender rule.
Prengei faulted the assembly for advertising the positions in the media.
The finance and budget committees had almost started interviewing finance nominee Joseph Muchina when they received the court order to stop on Monday.
The court directed that the matter be heard inter-parties on December 14 before a duty judge in Nairobi.
