Opposition leader Raila Odinga this morning arrived in Kisumu County to attend a thanks giving mass organised by Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o.
The event is taking place at ACK Dago in Kisumu.
The ODM leader is expected to address the locals after the mass.
Speaking to a Hivisasa writer, Kisumu residents expressed high expectations in Odinga's visit adding that they want him to address the current situation in the country.
“I hope Raila talks about the famous handshake with Uhuru Kenyatta and what it entails. He has never spoken about that in public,” Jeremiah Otieno a student in Maseno University opined.
A section of residents, however, want the ODM leader to speak about his political ambitions ahead of 2022.
“We need to know if Baba will be in the ballot in 2022 and we hope he will speak about it so that we can start planning now,” Jane Okello said.
“We also hope Raila will address the issue of the floods that have wreaked havoc in the county. We hope he will take the issue with the national government so that the mess is restored,” another resident stated.
Others said that Odinga should address the youth unemployment, and inflation of tenders in the county.
“We also hope Raila addresses the issue of youth employment and underdevelopment in the county.
"Furthermore, we hope he addresses the inflated cost of Anyang’ Nyong’o's residential home that will cost us a penny,” Grace Marwa stated.
