Okero succeeded Eric Mutua in a contest pitting him with another Kisumu-based colleague James Mwamu and Allen Gichuhi who practices in Nairobi.

With the society recently facing leadership crisis, Kenyans now believe the new face of the society means well for the country’s Judicial system.

“Okero was declared winner of LSK elections by the @IEBC Kenya Returning Officer Arnold Wekesa. We can now sleep,” Edwin Sifuna posted on his twitter handle.

Sifuna was also elected in Okero’s camp to represent the society in the council.

CharlieKE twitted: "Finally #LSK has fresh blood! Congratulations Isaac Okero!"

Kisumu’s nominated MCA Farida Salim posted on her facebook wall: “Congratulations to Mr Isaac Okero for being elected the LSK President. We wish him well in his endeavours. However, Iooking at the figures more than 2,000 learned friends did not vote. May we know why?”

In previous interview with this writer, Okero said he was pushed to vie for the position with the aim of facing out those who wanted the ‘status quo for the dented society's image and who cannot be trusted to redeem its fast deteriorating governance standards.

The ardent lawyer who was admitted in the bar 20 years ago paired with Nairobi-based lawyer Faith Waigwa as his deputy in the elections.

Okero who had served as the LSK Chairman for Western Kenya Chapter may be forced to relocate to Nairobi in order to be able to handle his new roles effectively, given that most of the society’s activities are based at the headquarters.
