Speaking at the Workshop, Dr Constantine Wasonga Opiyo urged the student leaders to ensure that they do their work with all honesty and without favor or prejudice towards any one.

He noted that Kenya is in dire need of leaders who will stand by the truth and shun corruption.

He told the student leaders to take their responsibilities seriously as they were the springboards to take them to even bigger leadership positions in our country and beyond.

“Be the change you want to see, leadership begins with you,” he said.

He continued to mention that it was the duty of each and every one of them to set examples that other students could emulate. He said that they should ensure that they excel in their academic work so that the other students could imitate.

“This will see improved academic performance in your school,” said Mr. Opiyo.

He nonetheless urged the student leaders to give reasonable punishments to students who commit offences.

He warned them against giving punishments that had no meaning and also those ones capable of inflicting stress and injury to the students.

Ms Risper Ocholla, a counselor, who also spoke at the event, admonished the leaders to go extra miles in their duties and smoke out drug and substance abuse in their schools.

She also acknowledged the fact that sexual immorality was creeping in most schools and it was their responsibility to help curb the menace.
