The Makwa High school students are alleged to have been drinking in the club before the manager noticed they were minors and students in plain clothes. He then allegedly tried forcing them out before they finished their drinks.

According to one of the attendants who sought anonymity, the students entered the pub one by one with their bags and as they were in plain clothes, they were served as other clients.

She added that when the manager came, he was able to recognise them and that is when he tried forcing them out but they turned chaotic and started fighting and breaking glasses and bottles in the pub.

Confirming the incident, Thika District Administration Police Commander (DAPC) Samuel Ombonya said that the police officers guarding the National Bank were able to contain the situation after the students started stoning the pub breaking panes and injuring the manager.

He said that some of the students were arrested and they are being interrogated as the head teacher of Makwa School has been summoned to Thika police station to identify the students since they had no uniform nor identification.

Ombonya added that they will detain the students until the police are through with investigations saying that they are also interrogating the pub’s manager to get the necessary information.
