A record 1,644,039 voters are expected to take part in Tuesday’s general elections from six counties in the North Rift region.
By press time, IEBC was distributing the election materials and equipment.
“We have distributed all required materials and equipment to polling stations and so far things are going on smoothly”, said IEBC returning officer in Uasin Gishu Winstonne Nyonje.
“Our preparedness is the best ever and we urge Kenyans and our leaders to work with us so that we all ensure we have an election that we will be proud of as a country”, Nyonje told journalists at the Uasin Gishu County Hall on Sunday.
More than 300 polling stations have been placed under tight security to ensure polling takes places smoothly.
