The nullification of Kenyan presidential election sets a precedence and should guide the US on how to handle its elections, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has said.

It was the first time an African court nullified a presidential election of a sitting president.

Speaking to NPR media, Clinton said that someone should write pieces on Kenyan election, adding that it was an interesting decision by the court.

"You know, the Kenya election was just overturned and really what's interesting about that - and I hope somebody writes about it, Terry - the Kenyan election was also a project of Cambridge Analytica," she said during the interview aired on Monday.

Clinton, who lost to President Trump in last year’s election, likened the US elections to that of Kenya saying they have no provision of repeating an election.

"What happened in Kenya, which I'm only beginning to delve into, is that the Supreme Court there said there are so many really unanswered and problematic questions, we're going to throw the election out and redo it," she said.

She added, "we have no such provision in our country. And usually we don't need it."

Kenya’s Supreme Court on September 1 said that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) did not conduct the polls according to the constitution and Elections Act, ordering a fresh poll.

The petition was filed by Nasa leader Raila Odinga, who cited massive irregularities that favoured President Uhuru Kenyatta.
