Images of the two leaders smiling at each other while flashing smiles have been widely shared on social media.

The handshake comes in the wake of newfound amity between President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga.

"Wow! This is lovely. They are following the example set by Uhuru and Raila," Juma Omogeni said.

"The handshake is the highest form of human sophistication," Seth Odongo.
