A woman and her child are nursing injuries at the Mount Sinai Hospital in Makongeni after they were hit by a speeding motorist in Kisii Estate, Makongeni this morning.

The victims who were walking towards the Madaraka market were allegedly hit by the motorist from behind after he lost control of the car.

According to an eye witness, the motorist tried to overlap due to a traffic jam but he lost control hitting the victims leaving them with serious injuries.

“He was speeding and there was a traffic jam. He decided to overlap and that is when he caused the accident,” Njoroge Kiarie, an eye witness said.

“They have a tendency of hitting and running as he just caused the accident and went off,” he added.

Thika sub-county traffic police base commander Francis Muthamia said that the motorists in this area are operating without licenses and they are planning a raid to apprehend them. He assured that fast action will be taken and offenders will be prosecuted.

Muthamia said police are searching for the motorist who hit the two victims.
