Kihagi on Tuesday accused the government of playing double standards in addressing teachers concerns, adding that the strike can end if the government listened and acted on teachers’ demands.

“It is unfair for the government to be playing double standards with teachers when our children are at home,” said the legislator.

Kihagi noted that much has been lost as the teachers’ strike continues to bite in public schools across the country.

He also lashed at the teachers union, saying that they too, must come up with reasonable demands.

He added that while teachers have a right to have their demands addressed, they must negotiate and take what is available for now.

The strike in public schools continues to bite, as learning in private schools hits top gear in Nakuru County.

On Tuesday, talks between teachers’ unions and the government failed to materialize, as teachers vowed to continue with the nationwide strike.
