Police officers in Nyamira County have been urged to arrest teachers found conducting holiday tuition this April.
Mr Nelson Sifuna, the education official in Nyamira County said the government does not recognize tuition and anyone found will be arrested and prosecuted.
He said as schools close for April holiday this week, pupils and students should be allowed to rest at their homes until re-opening.
“The government has not legalized holiday tuition. Any teacher or school found conducting tuition will not be spared. Let the pupils and students rest at their homes before the schools re-opens in May for a second academic term,” he said.
Sifuna urged parents to report any school to police officers and education officers conducting tuition.
"Parents whose children will be asked to pay tuition money should report to authorities. Teachers should be satisfied with their monthly salaries and stop giving parents unnecessary burden,” he said.
