Police in Homa Bay are probing an incident in which county offices were burned down on Thursday night by unknown persons.
The motive of torching down the building, which hosts offices of Homa Bay Governor Cyprian Awiti, is still unclear.
Confirming the incident, Homa Bay County Police Commander Marius Tum said the offices were still burning by Friday morning.
He also said police had arrested one person following the heinous act.
The suspect, who is not a resident of the area, was found with burns and petrol, which is thought to have been used in burning the officers.
Security officers have arrived at the scene of crime to conduct investigations on the possible cause of the fire.
The incident comes barely a week after sleuths from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) raided the place.
The officers confiscated different things from the office including computers and several documents.
According to an officer from EACC, who spoke on condition of anonymity, the raid was conducted in an effort to recover Sh.5 billion.
