The largest property market show in the East African region, the Kenya Homes Expo, resumes its bi-annual trade shows in April and October at the Kenyatta International Conventions Centre in Nairobi.
To be held from 12th to 15th April, the Kenya Homes Expo marks its 26 successful runs and has been themed Affordable Living.
The second housing exhibition by Homes Expo, organized by Daniel Ojijo, the founder and Executive Chairman of Homes Universal is planned for mid-October this year.
The April show has already attracted over 150 exhibitors and is once again sponsored by cement manufacturer, East African Portland Cement Company, who have secured the rights to a Platinum Sponsorship.
Last year’s April show was poorly attended as elections loomed, forcing the organizers to cancel the second event scheduled for October. “The April event was low-key, so we cancelled the October expo,” says Kelai Wanjiru, spokeswoman for the expo.
According to the expo organizer Maureen Ojijo, 2017 was a challenging year for the real estate industry and this saw many projects and developments go slow because of the political environment that caused investors to hold off on investing in the sector.
“But 2018 has taken off with a bright outlook and the industry is already seeing gains,” In Westlands, Nairobi, Sarit Centre is the venue for the Homes and Gardens 2018 show.
The expo takes place from May 2nd to May 6th. In Mombasa, MySpace Properties directors, a real estate developer at the Coast, is now planning to host this year’s Mombasa Homes Expo in August.
“We will confirm the venue once we sign deals with our sponsors,” CEO Mwenda Thuranira said. Other housing sector exhibitions are expected to be held in Kisumu, Nakuru, Eldoret and Nanyuki towns this year.
