Kakamgea Homeboyz and Nzoia Sugar tied themselves to a one-all draw in a build-up match staged at the Mumias Sports Complex on Friday 3.
Homeboyz were the first to see the back of the net through Meshack Karani’s shot from the spot in the first half.
Masita Masuta would come in the second with an equaliser to see the two sides go to the final whistle tied 1-1.
However, Homeboyz played the last quarter of the match a man down after their player Stephen Wakanya was red-carded for a tough challenge.
“It was a good friendly match, we played well against a strong side, they gave us a very good challenge and I am happy with the boys’ display. We are now ready for the league, in fact we were ready two weeks ago and we can’t wait to get started. The new players have done well so far, I can say my team has gelled properly and we are looking forward to a successful 2017 season,” said Nzoia coach Bernard Mwalala.
Nzoia will be making a return to the KPL after a decade in the lower-tier leagues.
