Families from Nyamira, Kisii and Homa Bay Counties have thronged in Narok District Hospital to check on the state of their kin who may have been involved in the grisly road accident.
A Nairobi bound bus veered off the road before plunging in Siapei River, few kilometers from Narok town killing 17 people instantly.
Narok County Commissioner George Natembeya said that the death toll has since hit 21 as four more critically injured adults succumbed to their injuries.
"They are now 21 after 4 more perished while undergoing medication. The hospital has treated 20 more and discharged them," he said, adding that at least 25 are still admitted.
Dorcas Moraa, a resident of Nyamira, said her husband was one of the four victims who perished while at the hospital.
"He had head injuries but it seems that internal organs were critically affected. He has since passed on," she said.
Eyewitnesses say that the driver may have lost control after trying to evade a head on collision with a track which is said to have been operating from SGR construction site.
Yet again, Brinkley Okoth, a survivor, has refuted the claims saying that the driver, who is among those who died, was driving at 'unimaginable' speed.
