Garissa Referral Hospital has been forced to engage the services of private health workers in its emergency wing as the nurses' strike enters its fourth month.

Services at the hospital, which is the larges referral health facility in the North Eastern Kenya, have been paralyzed by the nurses' job boycott.

The facility's Chief executive officers Salah Dagane said the private nurses are offering emergency services only.

Dagane said the hospital has not been admitting patients due to the ongoing strike.

"We pray the government, the nurses and clinical officers will find a solution to the strike that has affected the public hospitals", said the officer.

Dagage advised locals to seek medical attention at private health centers since there are no nurses to attend to them at the referral hospital.
