The ‘Ambulance Mashinani’ project has directly influenced the life of a single mother's life positively with her two children in Gatundu South, Kiambu County.
Introduced early last month, the project has created positive influence not only for those infested by jiggers but also those who cannot afford to access the hospital.
Mary Nyambura, a mother of two narrates how the project has helped her two sons suffering from jiggers’ infestation.
“My children suffer not only from jiggers but also high blood pressure and chest problems. I have no money to take them to the hospital since the little money I make is spent on food,” she said.
Nyambura added that her husband abandoned her due to poverty forcing her to work hard to make ends meet. She says that she suffers from hypertension and the money she makes cannot allow her to seek medical help.
“I have hypertension and cannot afford medication. I am just forced to go back home with the little I have,” she said.
The Ambulance Mashinani has proved handy in assisting villagers who cannot afford to travel to town to get medication from the hospital. 85,000 people in Kiambu County have allegedly benefited from the project.
